The voting must have been rigged. The Republicans must have stuffed the ballot or Sarah Palin convinced the Tea party to vote her way. How else do you explain that Rick Fox was voted out of Dancing With The Stars while Bristol Palin is still alive. Fox had the highest point total given by the judges on Monday night while Palin had the lowest so there must have been millions more votes for Palin than Fox. And those people who voted for Palin can't possibly be objective. Fox was way better in not only my opinion but the three judges. So if I am in charge of the Democrats I would protest the elections tonight given this irregularity in DWTS!
No surprise that the Republicans won big tonight although the Democrats manage to salvage the senate majority. As I predicted before there will gridlock no matter what happens tonight. I understand the majority of the people are upset by the state of the economy and they will blame the incumbents. But the idea that the Republicans or Tea Party people are going to do better is absurd. For example, one of the reason that people are unhappy with Obama is that they don't like the stimulus and the deficit increase because of it. The truth is without the stimulus the situation today would not be better and probably worse and the people would complain why he didn't do anything. If Obama had done nothing and somehow we have improvement in the economy, people would then complain that if he had done more, the recovery would have been sooner. I can guarantee you that if the republicans and McCain had won in 2008, we would be talking about a landslide for the Democrats tonight. The Republicans have absolutely no idea what to do.
On CNN tonight the Republican whip Eric Cantor was asked what big program he would cut to decrease the deficit. He was asked three times and he did not answer the question. He only said that the Republicans want the deficit to go back to the level of 2008. Gee, we still had a big deficit then and the economy was collapsing at that time under Bush. How about we go back to 2002 before we send troops to Iraq which certainly increase our deficit. Or how about we go back to before Bush when we had a surplus. Yes, the Democrats like to spend but if you think the Republicans are better, you are delusional because while the Democrats are in the pockets of the unions, the Republicans are in the pockets of corporations like Enron, AIG and Goldman Sachs.
I like your thinking Angry Yellow Man. Rick Fox is definitely a better dancer than Bristol Palin!
ReplyDeleteI thought about your previous blog and agreed with how you said there would be gridlock in congress.
I decided that I will try to be less cynical and just hope that the newcomers will be willing to work with their counterparts and get things done.
It's obvious that partisan politics doesn't work and if nothing gets done in Washington, then whoever is in congress will eventually lose their seat because it sures seems that the public is fed up.
Obama better hope the economy gets better too or else things will only get worse for him.

Wow, somebody who reads my blog actually watch DWTS? I am forced to watch it because my wife thinks that I can improve my dancing. So I am dancing like Kenny Mayne now!
ReplyDeleteMany people feel that Sarah Palin will be a big factor in 2012, not as a candidate but as a kingmaker since the majority of the candidates she endorsed won. But I think you could have endorsed empty suits and won most of the races against democratic incumbents this year. When she endorsed somebody worse than an empty suit like O'Donnell and Angle the candidate lost. I think the only person that Reid or Angle had a chance to beat was each other! I think somebody like Rand Paul would have won without anyone endorsing him. So I still don't think the Republicans want Palin to be a candidate or a kingmaker.
I think in 2 years the economy will be better although I don't know if it will be good enough to save Obama. For example GM and AIG are paying back the money and many companies are making a profit again. But unemployment always lag behind in recovery because employers are reluctant to hire back people unless they are satisfied that things will not go backwards again. That will take couple of years at least. So I think it will be the PERCEPTION of the economy and not the economy itself that determine who wins in 2012.
I can't believe that you are not a good dancer. Two of the champions have been Asian, so that proves that Asians are good dancers. In fact, I don't think there have been any bad Asian dancers on the show, right?
ReplyDeleteOh wait, I forgot you have that disease that you called Asian Feet Syndrome, or something like that!
It will be interesting to see who the GOP trouts out to go against Obama. If things get worse, do you think that Clinton will run against her own president or wait another 4 years? I get the feeling that she could smell blood in the water.
What's the deal with the guy who lost in Wisconsin? People are saying that he will gun for the nomination. How the heck does he think he'll win if he can't even win in his own state?
What's your prediction for California? Will things get better or worse? The only thing I will say is that you might want to consider moving!

Yamaguchi and Ohno are world class athletes so it is not surprising that they can dance. It is like Jackie Chan learning to dance. I am sure he can do it. I have been using the Asian male's inability to dance as my excuse. This took a big hit when we went to see the movie "Mao's Last Dancer". It is an excellent movie based on the autobiography of a famous Chinese male ballet dancer. (No, he is not gay). If it goes to your area, go to see it or rent the video when it eventually comes out. Unfortunately for me, my friends are no longer buying that all Asian males cannot dance after seeing the movie. So now I am left with the Asian 2 left feet syndrome, along with my rotator cuff tear, tennis elbow etc as excuses.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Clinton will run in 2012. If the economy is so bad still that Obama cannot win, neither would any other Democrat. She would be smart to wait 4 more years and not split up the party only to lose the general election.
Russ Feingold is one of the few politicians that I like. He is a centrist who is not afraid to buck his own party. He and McCain tried to reform campaign finance in a bipartisan way. This election serves to divide the country further as many so called Blue Dog Democrats who are actually quite conservative were ousted. So now you have a higher percentage of extreme Republicans and extreme Democrats in Congress. Feingold would have made a good vp candidate to reach out to the Republicans, like Lieberman did. But that didn't work out too good either. Anyways, independents abandoned him in Wisconsin and so no, he would have no chance running for president.
California, as usual, differs from most of the country and voted in mostly Democrats. Even though most Democrats don't care for Boxer, they decided they can't let the Republicans take the senate and so they came out for Boxer. In calif., as in most other places, the centrist suffered. Lieutanant governor candidate Maldonado is a centrist Republican who lost to ultra-liberal SF mayor Gavin Newsom. So as with everywhere else, it is more partisan here now. I am bullish on California overall despite the dysfunctional government. It still attracts more entrepreneurs and more immigrants than anywhere else. While many native Californians are against immigrants (at least illegal immigrants), I think immigrants are the strength that will keep California going in the future.
