Dennis Hastert, the former Speaker of the House, is being indicted for covering the sexual abuse of a minor while he was a wrestling coach.  So if I get this straight:  Hastert was basically the prosecutor of impeaching the president, Bill Clinton, over the Lewwinsky sexual scandal.  During his stint as Speaker, he managed to ignore Mark Foley's sexual scandal with pages.  Hastert had replaced Newt Gringich, who while was going after Clinton, had an affair while his wife was extremely ill.  After Gingrich resigned, his designated replacement, Bob Livingston, also then resigned after it was discovered that he too had an affair. Of course, Hastert was supposed to be the clean one but now turns out he was worse than them all!

As predicted the Ducks and Rangers, the top team in each conference, failed to make the Stanley Cup finals.  The Lightning made it even though they should have been eliminated in the first round by the Red Wings.  Such is the luck of the NHL playoffs!

What has happened to the Tigers?  The only team the Angels seem to be able to beat is the Tigers!  When is Verlander going to show up?  And is the real Anabel Sanchez going to show up?

The NHL has done well with parity. Both conference games went 7 games, which is exciting, though I did not watch any of the games. I actually like both teams that made the final and will still be rooting for the Lightning. It'll be good to see Yzerman win a Stanley Cup there.

Looks like the Tigers are struggling on offense. They miss Victor Martinez who is on DL and has been hurt all year. They might be missing Torii Hunter. Of course, the bullpen has been horrible this year except for Soria. Verlander pitched in Toledo last night and gave up 3 runs in less than 3 innings. Not good for a guy who is making a ton of money. Hopefully, he'll return to form and get back soon. The other starters have been inconsistent. Simon was out last week because his father was ill or dying. So he left to be with him. They had a minor league guy come up and pitch the first 3 innings that he started.

It'll be interesting to see if Minnesota can hang onto the lead. I still think the division is up for grabs.

What's your opinion on Martin O'Malley? I heard he was running on the Democratic side. I actually liked what I saw from him a few years ago when he was in Baltimore. He seems like a decent politician (if there is such a thing). I am assuming that this run for president is a trial run for a bigger bid in 2020 or 2024.

Speaking of politicians, I always think it's bad for politicians like Hastert and Gingrich to come out and bash another politician when they themselves have skeletons in the closet. It's like the preacher who bashes gays and then it turns out he's gay as well.

As I always say, just be honest. It'll eventually catch up with you and payback is a bitch.

  2. I don't know anything about O'Malley other than I heard a comedian joked that he is so unknown that his own campaign staffer didn't know who he is! Both he and Bernie Sanders are to the left of Clinton so will see if they push her toward toe left. I kind of doubt it unless either do better than expected in the next few months. I still think that the GOP right wing will pull the eventual nominee more to the right than Sanders or O'Malley pulling Clinton to the left.

I understand that Greene, Lobstein and Simon are unpredictable but I am just surprised that Sanchez has not pitched well. Is he still hurting from last season's injury? Obviously it is too early to panic but if Verlander does not make it back to at least a solid number 2, it is going to be tough with the Twins and Royals playing well.

For people like Gingrich and Hastert: People in glass houses should not throw stones. It is difficult to like politicians now a days. But regardless of one's opinion of Joe Biden, we all must feel very bad for him. Basically he started his political career with a tragedy and looks like he will end his career with another tragedy. How much bad luck can one have?

Very interesting strategy by O'Malley criticizing the current administration on it's policies recently. O'Malley was credited with turning things around in Baltimore and had a good amount of African American support. He was also pretty popular as Governor, winning twice.

I actually think that with him and Sanders running, it'll show how much more moderate Clinton is. It'll help in the general election, I think.

Greene has hit a wall and I don't know if his mechanics are off or if he's tired or what. Lobstein has been OK but is on the DL, I think. Simon actually has been the most consistent pitcher. Sanchez has been inconsistent. He's looked really good at times and then really bad at other times. I'm concerned about Verlander. It's a wait and see type of thing with him. He hasn't shown much the last couple of years and it's an uphill battle with him.

Agree with your last paragraph. As far as Biden, you've gotta feel for the guy. No man should ever have to endure the losses he has had. I had thought that Beau was going to be a great politician.

    Finals winners predictions:

    Golden State

    Tampa Bay
