With the problems Trump has had in the past couple of weeks, he is hoping that WikiLeaks will help him out with revelations of Clinton's email. But so far I don't see anything in these emails that makes Clinton look bad for moderate voters. For example, Clinton is revealed to have private and public positions on many issues. Trump would say that this makes Clinton dishonest. But he must know this is the art of negotiation since he thinks he is the master at it. You tell publicly something that you know can't pass but you eventually compromise to what you wanted privately. In the email she also disagreed with Sanders and Warren, which may anger supporters of those two. But do moderate people really want the ideas of those two to become laws?
In fact all the talks about Clinton's speech to Wall Street and bankers, the speeches revealed that Clinton warned them about behaving badly and that they are losing the public trust. Those seem to be good messages on behalf of the American people. Ultimately, it seems that Clinton wants to have a moderate Democratic party. One may not agree with her the definition of moderate, but I believe that trying to be moderate is way better than taking extreme positions on either side.
Trump's behavior this week is that of a child bully. He said his accusers are lying. He said that Bill Clinton said and did worse things. He calls those who take back endorsements weak and disloyal. He says that the election is rigged. He says the media is is out to get him. He is like the guy on the basketball court who calls foul on every play and when he is losing takes the ball home (even if the ball was not his). The question after the election is that can reasonable Republicans like Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney and John Kasich take back the ball (the party) from Trump.
It seems to me that the campaign is panicked a bit and what he's been doing seems to be a desperate move. This really goes back to the temperament thing. Because no candidate should be firing back the way he is.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually surprised that the allegations is causing him to drop in the polls. I don't think I've seen anything else that has done this previously in his campaign to make his numbers drop. And usually when he had a bad PR moment, he's been able to recover and rally his troops.
As far as Clinton goes, nothing in the emails surprises me. Though the emails uncovered weren't even on her email but on others. So you can connect the dots though and I even think that these types of discussions are a part of every campaign. And like Trump, I don't think many of these new allegations will change minds. I guess there could be some damage from the Sanders supporters because her trust issues come up again. Personally, if you don't support Clinton and you're a Sanders supporter, then just sit out the election or vote for Stein. There's no reason to be voting for Johnson. It makes no sense. Look at the issues and where the candidates stand.
Did you watch the Michelle Obama speech in New Hampshire? Even if you don't agree with her message, you have to be impressed with her speaking skills. She and her husband are very good at giving speeches and connecting with people. It's such a contrast to Hillary. Of course we all know how good Bill is at speaking. Too bad that Michelle Obama has no desires to run for office. I suspect that her approval numbers are greater than her husband's.
Well, the Red Sox lost last week, so 1/2 of my world series match up is gone. I got to watch the last 3 innings of the Dodgers/Cubs last night. That was some clutch pitching by the Dodgers. This is gonna be an interesting series. I don't know the rest of the pitching staffs for both teams, but it could come down to that.
I'll leave you with this article which I found. I find it hard to believe that a candidate would speak this way and I find it hard to believe that a convention like this would have this kind of propaganda. I'd be embarrassed if I was a part of the group. Do you think this is real?

Trump is showing that he is the master of the conspiracy theories. Among them, Obama's birth, Ted Cruz's father helped killed JFK, Clinton is on drugs and of course the election is rigged. He gives no evidence supporting these theories but he keeps coming up with therm. By the way if he wins the election, is he going to say it is rigged? So I guess he is already telling his supporters that he is going to lose!
ReplyDeleteWell, Michelle Obama may have high approval ratings now but if she runs, it will drop dramatically. Biden said on a talk show recently that he became the perfect candidate after he declared that he is not running. This is why a lot of good people do not want to get into politics. Who needs all the scrutiny and people bad mouthing you?
So far every game Kershaw pitched, the Dodgers have won, every game he did not pitch, they have lost. So I suggest that he comes in to face one batter every game that he does not start from now on. The Cubs are much deeper with the rotation and more balance offensively. The Dodgers can't hit left handed pitchers, for example. So if things go to form, the Cubs should win. But with a short series, Kershaw, Jensen and the curse, the Dodgers have a chance.
I don't know what to make of that article. I guess it is for real and it is not surprising that there are a lot of Indians who are for Trump. I doubt that it anywhere near a majority. Remember, the two Indian American governors are Republicans although I doubt either one supports Trump.
Trump knows how to get attention. He's been very good at using the media for most of his life. And people love conspiracy theories, especially when it is in relation to their own lives. So I can imagine that the Trump supporters are eating it up.
ReplyDeleteLike I said before, I think whoever runs for office these days, especially in the federal government, is a narcissist. I also think that politicians run on platforms created by their parties and so there is always grid lock. Michelle Obama would be no different.
Your Kershaw comment reminds me of when MSU won the national championship in basketball. There was a joke that MSU was undefeated when a certain walk on played. Obviously, he only came in when MSU was blowing out their opponent. Still, a nice piece of trivia for him to tell his kids!
Interesting that the two governors are Republicans, considering there is a shift of Asian Americans leaning left. Though both from the south, which makes a little more sense. I wonder what their opinions are of Sikhs getting mistaken for Muslims and being beat up.
I caught your favorite show last night. I'm impressed with Calvin Johnson. He's probably better than I thought. Though who is really impressing me is the race car driver. He's been pretty good. The gymnast to me, is still the front runner despite a hot Argentine Tango by that one girl.

Your MSU comment reminds me of the joke that Kobe Bryant has never won a championship without Derek Fisher! Well, Kershaw did not have to pitch tonight and the Dodgers won. It is surprising when you consider Arrietta was the Cy Young award winner last year and the last time he pitched at Dodger stadium he no-hit them. Rich Hill has been in and out of the DL and so this looks like a mismatch. Tomorrow the Dodgers start an 20 year old against a good post season veteran. So theoretically the Dodgers should down 3-1 and has to start Kershaw again on short rest for game 5. But it looks like the Cubs are just as bad against leftys as the Dodgers! If Urias beats Lackey tomorrow, I think every major team will have only left handed pitchers next season! Next life I should learn to throw left handed!
ReplyDeleteContestants are getting better each season in DWTS. Everybody that is left is pretty good. Ryan Lochte is probably the worst one left and even he is not bad. He may stay couple more weeks due to his notoriety. I agree that Hernandez is the best but the race car driver is excellent. I am trying to think why race car drivers are good dancers. Remember Helio who won? They spend hours sitting in a cramped cockpit so their muscles and joints shouldn't be good for dancing. Unless they do yoga or some other exercise to compensate for all their sitting.
I don't think I will watch the debate tomorrow unless the game is a blowout. Pretty tired of watching those two flail at each other for a third time!
I got to watch the final 3 innings last night. I was stunned to see them winning in the 6th and extending it. I like this new manager. His decisions are a little different. Such as play Puig who has been horrible. But his speed helped in scoring that run. Bringing in the closer in the 8th in 2 games is uncalled for these days in baseball. It'll be interesting to see if they can win tonight. Does Urias have some kind of strange left eye or was that his glasses pressing up against his eye?
ReplyDeleteActually I think Maureen McCormick might be the worst of them all. I never realized how dramatic she can be, which might turn off voters. Plus her coach is kind of a jerk to her.
I have to think that the race car drivers are very disciplined and have great coordination, which I guess translates over. I don't know. Didn't Mario Andretti compete once and he sucked? Though he was past his prime, so maybe that is why. I hear that men over 60 are not very coordinated!
I have no idea if I will be watching the debate. I have the last one recorded and haven't had the desire to watch it. I'll probably end up recording it and going back and forth between it and the game or something else I've recorded.
I hear that Trump is bringing Obama's half brother tonight. I didn't even know that he existed. I've always heard of his sister but not a brother (from another mother?).
-LBOAYM
The oldest DWTS winner is Donnie Osmond at 51 years old. So anyone over 60 would have to be in tremendous shape to be a decent dancer. This is especially true if someone has a bad shoulder and cannot hear the beat. I think that describes Andretti or maybe someone else you may know!
ReplyDeleteObama actually has a lot of half siblings from his father's side since he had several marriages. I don't know about the guy going to the debate but I know of one half brother who looked a lot like Barack. That guy's mother was European and so he is half white like Barack. In fact he is some kind of businessman who lives in China!
Didn't watch the debate but should have since the Dodgers got clobbered. May need Kershaw to pitch 2 out of last 3 games. I read that Clinton won by slight margin but the big winner was moderator Chris Wallace. And his performance means a win for Fox News! Anyone who saw the debate has any comments?
I didn't realize that Osmond was 51 when he won. I thought he was actually older. I found out last week that Darryl Hall of Hall and Oates just turned 70! He looks pretty good and I never would have guessed he was that old. Some people age differently. Some seem like they were old when they were 50! I just hope to make it to old age and not have many major problems.
ReplyDeleteI actually forgot that Obama's dad had multiple children. I read that the half brother that was at the debate was also best man at his wedding. I'm not sure if that is accurate, but apparently there's been a strain since his brother started backing Trump.
I can understand that. I'm always shocked that politics breaks up families and friends. I just hope that there is mutual respect for other peoples opinions.
I ended up switching back and forth from the debate, baseball game and Red Wings game. It was a bad night of TV for me. There was nothing new in the debate. From the parts I saw, Trump was very subdued but it seems to me that he got riled up the last part of the debate. It also seemed to me that Clinton threw some below the belt accusations, which I'm surprised of. These one liners seemed to get under his skin, so definitely a calculated move on her campaign.
I am not a big fan of Chris Wallace and never was a fan of his dad. But he did a great job of keeping things on track. I don't think Trump can complain about him.
Urias looked great until that 4th inning and then things unraveled. Baseball is a crazy game. On paper, it looks like the Cubs will win this next game, but you never know. It doesn't look like Kershaw will pitch until game 5, so I imagine that he will not start if it goes 7, but will probably come out of the bullpen if needed. I might have tried to start him in game 4 and then see if he can go in game 7 or game 1 of the World Series.
-LBOAYM
What a tough game to watch. It took so long and the Dodgers collapsed again. Hopefully Kershaw will win game 6 and force a game 7. I probably won't be able to watch much of game 6 because I'll be watching football, but I'll try to check the score at halftime.
