It is time for my Annual Angry Asian Absolutely Accurate Assessment (AAAAAA) of Big Ten football bowl games:
USC over Ohio State,
Penn State over Washington
Wisconsin over Miami
Michigan over South Carolina
Michigan State over Washington State
Northwestern over Kentucky
Iowa over Boston College
Arizona over Purdue
That makes a 6-2 prediction. But I admit the only one that I am very confident about is Northwestern over Kentucky, assuming they are not playing basketball instead. I think that both USC and Ohio State feel they were robbed of not getting into the playoffs. But as much as I hate Alabama, I think neither team have a gripe. Getting clobbered by Notre Dame and Iowa should mean elimination. I think MSU have a gripe that Michigan getting a new year bowl instead of them even though the Holiday bowl is a decent one.
I was hoping to see a prediction for the Alabama election. I think Moore will win, considering the state. Very similar situation with the presidential election and the emergency election in Georgia. Too many people voting along party lines. Plus, I don't know if these allegations really are making an impact. I hear there's a write in candidate that might take votes away from Moore, but in the polls so far, it's very close. I'm assuming that the rural voters are probably not answering the polls, so if they come out, Moore will win.

I agree that Moore probably will win. I think it will take a turnout of black voters similar to when Obama was running to offset the people who would vote for Moore even if he was convicted. Since this is an off year for elections and Obama is not on the ballot, I doubt the black turnout will be high enough. Also, if the GOP and Trump do not think he is going to win, they would not be endorsing him right now. So I think they feel that the base will come out to vote tomorrow.
DeleteAt least if Moore win, the Democrats can use it as a weapon in next year's election in places where they have reasonable chance to win. A Moore victory, coupled with GOP not kicking him out of the Senate, will be used by most democrat candidate against GOP incumbents next year.
Can't believe that Moore won. My faith in humanity has been restored...a little. I'm surprised he isn't even contesting the result.

Actually, I think Moore has not conceded yet! I am surprised that Trump didn't call it rigged! Now Trump was lost twice in Alabama in one election. Besides Democrats, I think the group that rejoiced most from this result are the GOP candidates running next year. Even though Democrats are still going to tie them to Trump, at least they won't have to answer whether they want Moore kicked out of the Senate.
DeleteDid you see Biden consoling the daughter of John McCain? McCain had helped Biden's son when he was sick. It shows that there are some good human beings in politics. Before I supported Obama, I supported Biden. I also feel that if McCain or Romney had beat Obama, it would be ok. These are honorable men and would be decent presidents. Do you think Biden may try again in 2020?
The night of the election, there was talk that Moore was going to concede. Even POTUS sent a congratulations via tweet. So I figured there would be no recount. Heck, if I were on the losing end, I would want a recount.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see the segment of Biden, but it doesn't surprise me. I am unsure of him as President, but have always thought he would be a guy I would want to hang out with. I have a ton of respect for McCain. I don't always agree with him, but he's one of the few that thinks independently. I considered voting for him, but I didn't like his VP choice. I understand why he chose Palin, but I think he had other candidates that would have made him more attractive to me. I don't know what to think of Romney. I'm always leery of career politicians. Especially ones born with a silver spoon. I think sometimes people get caught up in wanting a rich person to run for office. It's like electing a king or something. I think a person who is born rich, needs to show compassion and an understanding of the common man. I'm not sure Romney is that type of person. That doesn't mean he isn't a great guy, though if you were to make me pick between either Bush or Romney for president or someone I'd rather hang out with, I would probably pick Bush.
Do I think Biden will run? I don't know. I think there's a lot of pressure, but I don't know if his heart is in it. I think he'll wait and see who his opponent will be first.

Can't post on the Dec. 31 blog so trying it here:
ReplyDeleteWell, I wrote a reply but for some reason, it would not take. So instead of writing it again, I'm just going with sports predictions:
Super Bowl - Minnesota
NBA- Golden State
World Series - Houston
Stanley Cup - Boston
No idea what Ohtani will do. It'll be interesting to see if he'll bat and pitch.
Just hoping for a safe Olympics. I'm sure N. Korea will be making a bunch of threats and noise.

I am not sure why you can't comment on the Dec. 31 post. But one of my prediction has already come true: Trump is tweeting like crazy. And it is crazy. I am sure he is more angry than ever now that Bannon's book is coming out. This is like two school yard bullies who used to be on the same side fighting each other. I think I am going to enjoy this!
