Romney's attack on Obama as the violence unfold in Egypt and Libya is totally wrong. The statement put out by the U.S. embassy in Egypt was before the violence started. It was meant to defuse a dangerous situation. Romney claimed that the statement was made after the attack started and it showed U.S. weakness. The timeline put out by CNN showed that was not the case but Romney refused to back down. Regardless, it shows lack of understanding of the world. It is like a hostage situation. The police can say all they want about how powerful they are but that will not stop the violence or save the hostages. It is better to try to defuse the situation. This is not weakness but intelligence. Remember Bush apologized for the spy plane incident in China. Would it have done any good if the U.S. had threatened China? Would Romney have criticized Bush for being weak?

There will always be bad guys. How many ordinary people will follow the extremists will depend on how many openings we give them. A film making fun of Mohammad is just perfect for the bad guys. The film has been around for a couple of months but nobody paid attention until right before 9/11 when an Egypt extremist brought it up and it goes viral. Obviously this was an opportunity for them to cause trouble on 9/11. Just like the preacher who threatened to burn the koran awhile back, the makers of this film are just helping the enemy recruit more followers.

I guess I don't get religious zealots who claim to provoke other religions in the name of their lord or prophet.

I think I've said before that I always look for the good and commonality in people, but I guess other people are not that way. There would be a lot less war and killing if we could all get along and respect each other.

Now that I got my inner hippy out, did you hear about how the producer and director of the movie tricked the actors about the script? Now this guy is in hiding. Hey, if you can't take the heat, you shouldn't play with fire. The guy is a coward and his mentor, who supposedly is speaking for him, is another one of those hateful people.

Don't get me wrong. There is plenty of blame here, especially with the guy in Egypt and the people who decided to kill the U.S. diplomats.

People need to have thicker skins. It's not like the U.S. government made the movie and this is the stance of the administration. It's a frickin' movie made by idiots. Have an issue with it? Take it up with them, not innocent lives.

Killing never solves anything, because there is always retaliation. I am thankful that cooler heads are in the White House as opposed to a talk first and think later type of mentality.

By the way, that preacher is headed back to Dearborn soon next week.

  2. I am not sure which preacher you are referring to that is going back to Dearborn. The guy who is hiding now supposedly used the fake name Sam Bacille. He is an Egyptian Christian. I think the translation from Egyptian may have been incorrect. His name should have been S. Imbecile.

Even though the tragic deaths occurred in Libya, the bigger problem is Egypt. It is a much bigger country and is the only major Arab country to make peace with Israel. We give 2 billion dollars each year to Egypt. This is not because we like it so much but because it made peace with Israel. Those billions of dollars propped up Mubarak for a long time which eventually helped the conservative, possibly extremist coalition come to power because the general public hated Mubarak. I think it is time to rethink about these aids to Egypt.

Just before we were attacked, Israel's prime minister Netanyahu lectured the U.S. about not setting a deadline for Iran to give up nuclear weapons. Who are the Israelis to lecture us? We are their best ally and benefactor. We have sacrificed a lot to help Israel. I don't even think we should consider bombing Iran if it build a nuclear weapon. We did not bomb North Korea on behalf of South Korea. And we have troops in South Korea who are vulnerable from a nuclear attack from North Korea. South Korea also does not have nuclear weapons to protect itself. Israel has nuclear weapons and an air force that can attack Iran any time it chooses to do so. It is not in our self interest to attack Iran for Israel. So Israel has no right to lecture the U.S.

The pastor I am talking about is in this link:

I guess that Sam Bacille is still in hiding. If you truly believe what you filmed was the truth, then you should have no problem dying for your beliefs.

I am surprised I haven't heard Romney side with Netanyahu, since he's been running his mouth off.

The next couple of weeks will definitely be interesting and important for the region. I personally hope it doesn't escalate any more.
