While we are all surprised that someone like Trump has become one of the two final candidates who will be our next president, there are examples of him in other parts of the world.  Trump's rhetoric  against foreigners and Muslims are also used by politicians all over Europe.  In fact the platforms that made him successful here has been even more successful elsewhere.  Conservative populist parties have already won power in Poland, Hungary and even Denmark.  Elsewhere opposition parties with same agenda are gaining against established parties.  Even in Britain, there is the threat of leaving the European Union because of the fear of immigration, terrorism and lose of control of its own economy. In Asia, the Philippines have elected  Rodrigo Duterte who is called the Trump of the East.

The only exception to this pattern recently is the election of Sadiq Khan to be the mayor of London.  The pressure is on him to decrease the number of Asian youths leaving London to fight for terrorist groups.  That is not the usual job description for a mayor.  I am worried that terrorist group will actually make London a even more likely target than it already is.  If an attack occurs under his watch, the right wing extremists will blame him.  There will be more opposition against immigrants which will lead to more youths becoming possible recruits for terrorists.  The cycle may not be stoppable.  So the best of luck to Sadiq Khan.

I didn't know about the other countries. I am sure Hungary was starving for new leadership! Seriously, how have these countries fared with these people in office? I'd like to think things would be a little different here since the U.S. is looked upon as a leader in the world. But if we see it in other parts of the world, it could give us a sample size of how things turn out.

One of my bosses is in love with Amazon. He has a Prime membership and is always talking about how he likes it. Then last week, he heard (probably from Fox News), that the CEO of Amazon has spent a ton of money and hired people to investigate Trump, in order to dig up dirt on him.

As you can imagine, he was quite upset, since my boss is a Trump supporter. He called the CEO of Amazon a bunch of unmentionable names and thought about cancelling his membership.

I was quite surprised at his response to all this. I guess I don't blame him, if he is that supportive of Trump. You have to draw a line somewhere. I'm sure Trump supporters are trying to dig for dirt on Clinton, so if I am assuming a Clinton supporter would be equally angry about it.

This brings me to the question I keep forgetting to ask you. What are your thoughts on this transgender bathroom thing? To me, I don't really care. I don't hang out in bathrooms and try to avoid public restrooms as much as possible. I'm surprised at all the outrage. Even my significant other has expressed her opinion, which caused a small fight.

I guess my theory is that transgender people have been using bathrooms and most of us haven't even noticed. I understand the concern by some people out there of what could happen, but I also think that these things would happen with or without a law.

I wonder what's going to happen at stadiums, when there are thousands of people who need to use a bathroom. Are there going to be gender neutral bathrooms available?

And what makes things worse is that Kaitlyn Jenner is thinking of transitioning back to Bruce Jenner. This person has made things worse and better for transgender people!

I didn't hear about Khan becoming mayor of London. It'll be interesting to see how things work out there. I don't know if I'd want to live there. Thought about visiting the UK at some point, but I sometimes wonder about security.

  2. I agree with you that transgender people have been using the public bathrooms in the past and I have never heard of anyone complained about it. When I go in a public bathroom I never notice who is peeing next to me. Why would anyone check out if there is a transgender person next to him? With those laws where you have to go to the bathroom according to the gender you were born with, are they going to have cops outside the bathroom and check everyone's birth certificate before allowing people to go in?

If these laws are suppose to protect people from getting rape at restrooms, I want to ask: Has anyone been raped in a public restroom by a transgender person. I can't think of any case of that at all. As a man, I suppose it is possible for me to be attacked by a gay pervert in a restroom. But I doubt it very much that a transgender male would attack me in a public bathroom. I can't speak for a female but I think the chances of a heterosexual male attacking a female is much, much higher than a transgender female going into a woman's bathroom to attack a woman.

As far as comfort level, like I said, I would never notice a transgender male in the bathroom if he is wearing man's clothing. I can't speak for all women but in their bathrooms they are in individual stalls, not like men all standing next to each other at urinals. So I would think that a woman would not know that the person in the next stall is a transgender person.

I think that most people, transgender, gay or heterosexual just want to finish their business and get the hell out of public bathrooms. There is no need to regulate people when they have to relief themselves. For those who are criminals or perverts there are laws against rapes and indecent exposure already. We do not these transgender laws and I am not carrying my birth certificate to bathrooms!

I don't think Caitlyn Jenner helps transgender people. She was in such a public light that when she announced her sexual change, all the public comments were positive. Anyone who bad mouthed her was ridiculed. She was called brave by the media, including winning a courage award from ESPN. I don't think she is that brave, knowing that nobody can publicly attacked her. Plus, she was going to get her own show and make more money. This gives the illusion that transgender people are accepted. But the truth is that the average transgender people are still bullied and ridiculed in many places. I don't think having Jenner in the public eye helps these people at all. I have not heard about Jenner wanting to become Bruce again. If that happens, I would wonder about Jenner's honesty. Of course, I wondered about that when I thought that PEDS helped him win the Olympics.

I just read that John Chiang is running for governor in California. Would you support him? Here's an article from the LA Times.

Last night's DWTS was a nice surprise. All 3 finalists were the top 3 all season. I'd be happy if any of the 3 win.
