Nice for Peyton Manning to probably end his illustrious career on top with a Super Bowl championship.  He must give thanks to his defense and to the Panthers for making all kinds of mistakes.

The race for the presidency is like football playoffs.  In order to get to the finals, you have to win your conference.  And in order to win your conference, you have to win your division.  So basically Christie, Bush, and Kasich have to beat out Rubio to win the division of the establishment in order to have a chance to beat our Trump and Cruz for the Republican conference.  So with Rubio ahead, the other three are attacking him rather than Trump and Cruz right now.  So will see if that makes a difference in the NH primary this week.  Sanders and Clinton are in the Democratic conference finals already.

I am no fan of Fiorina but I think she should have been allowed to be in the last debate.  She would have been in the JV debate if not for Huckabee and Santorum dropping out.  I mean, if a JV team doesn't have enough players, it stands to reason that the one left over player should be moved up to the varsity.  It does not seem fair that we had 10 debaters before in the main event and now they can't accommodate a seventh debater.

To show how out of touch I am, I did not even know that Huckabee, Santorum and Kasich were all still running. I'm glad to see the former two drop out. I don't understand how either of those two would think they'd win the candidacy.

Nice analogy regarding the playoffs and the primaries. I never really thought of it that way. I can't believe the race is for the Democrats is getting a little tighter. Interesting move by Clinton to come to Flint early. She must think that Michigan will play a big role.

I thought Sanders showing up on SNL was a good move. I have yet to see the episode but heard his appearance was funny. Though Larry David is pretty funny. I'm surprised that you didn't like Curb Your Enthusiasm.

  2. Kasich is running a close 4th in NH. There is actually an outside chance he can finish 2nd. I like him best among the GOP candidates so I hope he does well tomorrow. Sanders is polling 2 to 1 ahead of Clinton. I doubt the margin is that big but it looks like he will win by double digits for sure and will make it interesting in the near future at least.

Larry David and Bernie Sanders were funny. I am not sure if it helps Sanders since he would probably be well known to SNL audiences anyway. I like some episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm. But there were some episodes where someone just go on a swearing rant. I don't like jokes that depend on effects of cursing or sexual contents. That is why I don't go to comedy clubs. It is usually just one sex joke after another in those venues. I think it is a lot more skillful to tell jokes without cursing and sex. I would never watch or listen to Howard Stern, for example.

I think Kasich is decent, but I don't know if he has the backing and personality to win the election, let alone win the nomination.

I thought the Bern Your Enthusiasm skit was pretty good. I realize that some of the turn off for "Curb" is the swearing. Though I don't mind it because I just think that people sometimes speak that way (though I will say that some of it is over the top).

  4. Lots of interesting things happened in NH tonight.

First: Outsiders Trump and Sanders won big. That's got to rattle the establishment of both parties. Sanders won by over 20 points. Even though he was expected to win here, I think that is a pretty big margin and points to Clinton being more vulnerable than her supporters had believed. Trump was expected to win but by doubling his closet rival he did do better than expected.

Second: The GOP establishment is going to have a hard time finding a candidate to fight Trump. Kasich came in at a surprising second. Not only is he more moderate than others but also his message is less angry. Rubio who did well in Iowa and was hoping to knock out Kasich, Bush or Christie ended up falling down after a horrible debate. Christie did most of the damage against Rubio in the debate but that helped Bush more than himself. Bush is now going to take aim at Rubio because he believes that if Rubio is out, Bush can outlast Kasich.

Third: Despite the victories, it is still hard to see Sanders and Trump winning the nominations. Sanders will have to show strength outside of northeast. I think eventually the GOP establishment will come together for one candidate to hopefully beat Trump and Cruz. But if every week a new hope comes up and then goes down the following week, then the GOP will ended up with a brokered convention. This is something I have not seen in my life time. It would be fun.
