The CIA and FBI have declared that Russia was hacking into our election.  Trump is denying that this has happened.  I don't know how he thinks that he has more info than the CIA.  I guess maybe he got direct info from the KGB!  This from a man who before the election claimed that the election is rigged.  Some people cannot even be gracious winners.

I don't know if Russia's meddling changed the election result.  But I am sure computer espionage goes on all the time from both sides.  I don't see any difference between that and spy planes from both sides trying to get secrets from international waters.  I think this is a wake up call that should not have been needed.  We should know that foreign governments are going to hack us.  We are probably hacking them as well.  The danger is that eventually someone is going to hack into water supply system, banking system, power grid etc, causing widespread chaos.  Can the government prevent these attacks?

Rick Perry for Sec. of energy?  This is the same guy who wanted to eliminate that agency when he was running for president.  He did forget the name of the agency during the debate.  So maybe he will forget to show up if he is confirmed.

Once again it is time for my AAAAA (Angry Asian Absolutely Accurate Assessment) of Big Ten bowl games.  I have Maryland, Northwestern, Nebraska, Michigan, Ohio State and Wisconsin winning and Minnesota, Indiana, Iowa and Penn State losing.  So the prediction is 6-4.  I think Ohio State has a better defense than Clemson and will win a very close game.  I do think that if anyone can somehow upset Alabama it would be Watson of Clemson who may go wild running and throwing.  I don't think Barrett of OSU is as likely to do that.  Washington's passing game is the best of the four but defending the pass is Alabama's strength and I don't think Washington can stop Alabama's running game.  So I pick Alabama to win it all.  Not really going out on a limb here.

The Rose Bowl is going to be very interesting.  Both USC and Penn State have improved dramatically since the beginning of the season.  But I think USC has more talent.  In fact despiting getting beat badly by Alabama in the beginning of the season, I think right now USC would give Alabama the toughest game.  I think they are the second best team in the country right now. 

Dr. Sammy Lee has passed away at the age of 96.  Awhile ago I had name the 10 best Asian athletes I knew.  I did not name athletes from sports which are dominated by Asians.  Since diving is dominated by China, I did not think of putting any diver on the list.  In retrospect that was an error on my part.  Dr. Lee was not only the first Asian American to win a gold medal in the Olympics, he did it when public pools did not allow nonwhites to us the facility.  So not only did Dr. Lee shot down the stereotype of Asians not being good athletes, he did it while being discriminated against.

At 5 foot 1 inch, Dr. Lee was short in stature but he cast a giant shadow.  He won two gold medals plus a bronze.  He graduated from medical school while training and serving in the army.  He is like our Dr. Roger Bannister.  After retiring from diving competition and the army medical corp, he coached numerous Olympic level divers.  Among them were Bob Webster who also won two gold medals and Greg Louganis, probably the greatest diver in history.   Both Webster and Louganis stated that Dr. Lee was not only their coach but their mentor in life. 

So rest in peace Dr. Sammy Lee.  You have been and always will be an inspiration for us.
