North Korea has tested a H bomb.  This is supposedly more powerful than before and can be carried on missiles.  So all the fire and fury talk did not work.  Trump is used to bully people with hyperbole.  But in Kim he has found a person who uses hyperbole greater than him.  Of course, Trump has more powerful weapons but no expert think that there is any good military options.

A lot of people think Kim is irrational.  But I think in this case, Kim is more rational than Trump.  If you believe that your enemy can destroy you in any war, then your only rational option is build up nuclear weapons as a deterrent.  Trump, on the other hand, is tweeting about South Korea appeasing the North and is unfair in trade with the U.S.  So his recent words are just making Kim want to move faster in nuclear weapons and making our allies worry that the U.S. is not reliable.

The truth is that nuclear weapons are not that difficult to achieve any more.  So countries like North Korea and Iran were going to get them no matter how we threaten them.  The Pandora's box had been opened.  So while the GOP were angry at Obama for making the deal with Iran, would they not want the same deal with North Korea right now?

I don't know if the GOP would necessarily want an agreement with N. Korea. I have a feeling that they want to flex some muscle in the region and make N. Korea an example. The problem is that the region has a delicate balance right now, similar to the Middle East. Lots of influences from all sides. You have the Russians who, for some reason, are supporting N. Korea and giving it aid. The Chinese, who have been allies and sort of use N. Korea as a buffer. The S. Koreans have been allies with the U.S. for years but find themselves a stones throw from N. Korea. Plus, many Koreans have relatives on both sides. Japan is a major ally of the U.S. and is a short ways away from Korea as well. Plus, Guam as well.

So does Kim just keep lobbing missiles into the sea? He seems like he's just trying to push buttons so that someone will go to the table and negotiate with him. I wonder where he's getting the parts to manufacture these missiles. You'd think that at some point, he might run out of supplies, but maybe the Russians are supplying them to him?

I would have thought that the Americans would have shot one of those test missiles out of the sky by now. I'm hoping that we have that capability. Wouldn't you think that if we had done that, it would show Kim that it would be unwise to start an offensive attack if his missiles could be swatted out of the sky?

At the same time, if he was such a threat, why haven't we gone in and just killed him? It would seem that maybe that would solve a lot of problems.

On a lighter note, I see that they came out with the contestants for your favorite show. I have not looked at the list yet, so I can't make a prediction. Hopefully, I'll be able to do that before the season starts. I'm not sure when that is either. Maybe you can tell me!
