Didn't watch much of the debate tonight.  Did watch the analysis afterward.  It was pretty much what I expected.  I am comparing this year's debates to a soccer playoff of 2 games.  In the first game, Trump scores bunch of own goals and so needs a big game tonight.  Biden just needs to not collapse.  So the final score tonight was nil nil.  Biden wins the overall debates.  Kristen Welker was a much better referee than Wallace was in the first debate.  But there were less fighting this time and Walker could hand out yellow cards (muting) this time.  So this was a much easier game to officiate.

So it looks like Biden is in good shape.  But who knows if a James Comey thing from 2016 will happen this year.  Trump and his people are trying to use Hunter Biden to change the narrative like Comey's announcement about Clinton's email last time.  But I think Biden is more liked and trusted by people than Clinton was.  So they are less likely to believe a Biden scandal.  So hopefully Trump will fail to change the narrative this time.

The World Series is getting serious!  I thought that the Dodgers were in good shape with better pitching.  But the young guys are not doing as well as they did in the regular season.  Buehler is the ace and is scheduled for game 3.  That would seem a good situation until I realize the Rays have Morton who beat the Dodgers in 2017 game 7, beat the Astros twice this year, including game 7.  He and Buehler are matched up for games 3 and possibly 7.  So this will be interesting!

  1. Just watched the finish to the baseball game. It seems like the Dodgers are either really good or not good at all. So would Kershaw pitch game 5 or would they hold off to game 6 if it's necessary? I was not behind the Mookie signing but he's shown why he was a priority to sign.

I watched about 5-10 minutes of the debate. I thought Biden would attack Trump regarding having a secret bank account in China and I don't know if he actually did that. I wonder if Biden's answer about fracking and oil will hurt him in Pennsylvania. I predict whoever wins Pennsylvania will win the election. I don't know if Biden can win Texas, even though he's done well there. Florida looks close.

I also didn't like how Biden didn't respond about how the Obama administration was the one that built the cages. He could have easily said that even though they were built, that Trump was using them for reasons that they weren't intended for.

  2. It just seems that Biden was just too careful. That is why I thought it was nil to nil tie game. He could have attacked Trump more on COVID by pointing out that with with 1/5 of the world population, we have over 20% of cases and deaths. Also if Trump thinks that he is smarter than scientists, why he didn't overrule the doctors and took hydroxychloroquine? Trump also made stupid remarks like: he is the least racist person in the building! That seems to imply he is a racist, only that the others are more racist than him! Yes, I agree that Biden should have brought up the bank account in China. He also could have said that Trump has paid more taxes to China than to the U.S.

I heard that Florida can count the mail-in ballots before election day. So they may get their results in early, if the contest is not as close as everyone think it is. If Biden wins Florida early, I think it will indicate that he will win because he is running better in the Midwest swing states than in Florida. If Trump wins Florida early, then we are going to sweat it out for maybe several days.

Dodgers won tonight, so Buehler is proving that he is now definitely the ace of the team. Tampa has to use a bullpen day tomorrow so if Urias stay hot, the Dodgers will be in good shape. I think Kershaw will pitch game 5 no matter what, as he will either try to clinch the Series or stake them to a 3-2 lead.

  3. If the Dodgers lose this series, I have two conclusions: 1. They are jinxed. 2. Roberts has to be fired. Roberts is not a bad manager but I think whenever he makes 50-50 decisions, he is destined to fail.

Before the 9th inning tonight, I ask my wife if she was the manager, will she keep the young guy in or use Jensen in the 9th inning. After telling her the pros and cons of each, she said she would definitely go with the young guy. So you see, somebody who doesn't understand baseball could see that if things didn't go well in the past, you should try something new. So is it jinx or Roberts' decisions that have kept the Dodgers from winning a World Series? If they don't win it this year, I think it is both!

I am a little mad that I stayed up for that game. The thing that bugs me about modern baseball is the overthinking the managers do and overuse of the bullpen. I don't get why he pulled Urias so early. He seemed to have been pitching well still and at least could have gone 1, if not 2 more innings. I don't trust the Dodgers bullpen. After so much money spent, maybe next year they'll add more bullpen help.

Game 5 is currently on but I won't watch until later so I have no idea how they're doing right now.

  5. Well, I didn't agree with Roberts taking out Kershaw in the 6th, I didn't agree with him bringing in Gonzalez to replace May in the 8th, I didn't agree with bringing in Treinen in the 9th. But despite some scary moments, it worked out this time. Baseball is funny, if you win, the manager is a genius. If you lose, the manager is an idiot. A few years ago, all my friends and I agreed that Maddon made all the wrong moves and yet the Cubs won. So yesterday Roberts was an idiot and today he is a genius even though I disagreed with him both days.

True, but it's another case of him overthinking things. Kershaw could have finished the inning at least. May was pitching great and then you bring in Gozalez who can't come out so he has to pitch to Aronzerena who is the hottest hitter. He got lucky he got out of the inning. I was OK with him bringing in Treinen though. He seems like he's the less likely to blow the game, but like I said, I don't trust the bullpen. Hopefully they can finish it Tuesday.
