Let the lobbying begin!  Right after Auburn gets lucky two weeks in a row, Auburn and the SEC immediately cry that if the SEC does not get to play for the national championship it will be the worst injustice in the history of mankind!  The only thing is the BCS was brainchild of the SEC in the first place and it has worked out pretty well for them.  So excuse me for not feeling sorry for them if they are shut out this year.

It is true that FSU and OSU have not played very tough schedules.  I would say it is irrelevant in the case of FSU.  They have been extremely impressive throughout the season.  I would have picked them to beat Alabama if the Crimson had gone undefeated.  OSU has not been so impressive as demonstrated by its narrow win over Michigan.  So unless it beats MSU soundly I would say it would be a big underdog against FSU.  But if it wins against MSU it is the only major undefeated team left besides FSU.  I don't think Auburn deserve to leapfrog over OSU given that it got clobbered by LSU, barely beat WSU and should have lost to a Georgia team that had lost to 3 other teams.  I would say that if any team from the SEC deserving to go to the BCS title game would be Missouri, if it beats Auburn.  Missouri has only lost once in double overtime and I have been impressed by its overall performance.  In any case, Alabama should not have a chance even if OSU loses.  In that case the winner of Auburn and Missouri should get the nod.  I mean the voters can't possibly vote for Alabama over the team that beat the team that beat it, can they?

My question today is:  If MSU loses to OSU and OSU goes to the BCS title game, does MSU still get the Rose Bowl bid?  I understand that the runner up to a team that goes to the title game gets a BCS bid if it is in the top 14.  I think if the game is close, I don't think MSU will drop below 14.  Would that be the Rose Bowl or another BCS bowl depending on selection order of the bowls?

Nobody really knows how good these conferences are. I am sick of ESPN telling me how good the SEC is and how good the Big East and ACC are in basketball.

To me, it's media biased. I still think the Big Ten teams are pretty good top to bottom and I would like to see a match up between the two conferences. So, when people say that OSU doesn't belong in the title hunt, they are wrong. To go undefeated is a huge feat and needs to be awarded.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to FSU if Winston ever gets convicted. He's been a huge chunk of the offense. He turned FSU from a very good to great team.

So in conclusion, I don't think Auburn should leapfrog OSU if both win this weekend. Why nobody is talking about their loss earlier in the year and it's close wins proves to me that there is a biased in the media.

I wouldn't be surprised if Alabama vaults back into the title game, only because it's happened before.

As far as MSU goes. I am really curious to see this game. The consensus is that MSU is in the Rose Bowl win or lose. My confidence in that happening is around 60%. I think MSU needs to keep the game close. A loss will drop them about 4 points, so they're safe at 14.

The Rose Bowl will have its choice of teams. But it looks like it'll be between MSU and Clemson. And since it's the 100th Anniversary of the Rose Bowl, I think that they would want a Big Ten/Pac 12 game. I for one, would be excited to see an MSU/Stanford game. I think ASU would be harder for MSU to handle.

Who do you think will win this weekend?

  2. I give OSU a slight edge because I think they are more capable of making big plays. So they can be bottled up by MSU all day and then break away for a couple of long TDs. I do think that if MSU turns it into a slugfest with few big plays they can win a low scoring game. Stanford and MSU would be a great game as both team play similarly.

If and when Winston gets arrested, FSU will have been picked for the title game. If he can't play that might just give the game to OSU. If this happens, then Urban Meyer is either the greatest coach or the luckiest. He went undefeated at Utah, won big in Florida and be undefeated at OSU. Those are great accomplishments. Coaches might start changing their names to names of Popes. How about Francis Hoke?

I don't think that Alabama can in way get into the title game unless both FSU and OSU lose which I don't think is possible. I mean Auburn obviously is ahead of them and how can anyone vote Alabama ahead of Missouri if MO beats Auburn? Even the SEC can't argue that their one defeated champion should not be in the title game, right?
