Great game!  Brady just cemented himself to be the best qb ever!   There isn't much else to say.  Regardless of what I think of him now, I will have to salute his greatness on the field.

The new "24" is off to a good start.  It is weird without Jack Bauer and the main female actress was on  previous season of "Homeland"!  I will watch it and see if the new chapter lives up to the "legacy".

Pretty good game. I will give respect to Brady. Even though he's not my favorite QB, I do respect what he's been able to do. Do I think he would be able to do it on another team? I don't know. It seems to me what they do in New England is unique to them and they've been able to do it on an elite level. So Brady deserves the GOAT tag.

I ended up recording 24, so hopefully I'll get to watch the first episode tonight. It also looks like there is a 2nd episode on tonight as well, so I'll try to watch both. I was a little shocked to see my favorite character on the promotion poster, since we were told he was dead. But as I said before, I always thought there was a chance he would show up again. I hope I'm not wrong!

  2. I don't think the system is the main thing. I am not sure what the system Belicheck has in NE. Certainly it is not as distinct as the west coast offense that Bill Walsh used in SF. That led to championships by Montana and Young. So I would give the coach and system more for the SF success. Montana also had Jerry Rice and a great running back in Roger Craig. Brady had to win with a lot of different receivers and running backs. I mean he made it look easy in the 4th quarter and OT and Gronkowski didn't play. So I think the GOAT tag is well deserved.

Don't get me wrong. I think he deserves the GOAT tag. But I don't know if he has the same career if he plays for any other team. Same with Montana, he was good with KC but wasn't as great. As great as that 4th quarter and overtime were, Atlanta was gassed. Receivers were pretty wide open and don't forget the miracle catch. If you were putting together a team without Belicheck as your coach, who do you go with at QB at their prime? I'd probably go with Rogers.

I watched the first 2 episodes of 24 Legacy last night. I like it so far. It takes a little getting used to in trying to know these new characters. The Carter character is good, though I don't know if I like him better that Bauer.

  4. Well, yeah,if Brady played for the Lions, he probably would have won only 2 titles! I think all of the Super Bowl Brady won were very close games. So obviously some luck is involved like the Edelman catch. But then didn't they lost one to the Giants due to to helmet catch? So I think luck evens out after so many Super Bowls and ultimately in crunch time he outplayed the league MVP.

I think rather than the Belichek system made Brady better, I think Brady make Belichek look smarter. Belichek had Bernie Kosar in Cleveland and had a losing record. He didn't win any title with Drew Bledsoe in NE. He only put Brady in when Bledsoe was hurt and the rest is history. So I am not even sure that he is smarter than Llyod Carr who kept trying to play Drew Henson ahead of Brady at Michigan.

I would agree with Rodgers as my pick at this time since Rodgers is way younger. But at their prime I would still go with Brady. I don't know all the details of each of their offenses but I doubt that GB offense is that much different than that of NE. Obviously Rodgers has a better arm and moves better. But so does Cam Newton, Winston and Mariotta and many others. The thing that is similar about Rodgers and Brady was that they were drafted lower than expected. So they both had chips on their shoulders and probably helped made them better. If SF had drafted Rodgers instead of Alex Smith, would the two careers been exchanged? Who knows? Brady and Rodgers both ended up on good teams and that helped both of their careers. But both have the intangibles that cannot be measured. So I would say those two are the two best in this era. But then I thought Ryan Leaf was going to be better than Peyton Manning after watching Washington State play Michigan at the Rose Bowl!

The story line on "24" is kind of mediocre but it is fairly exciting. I agree that the new guy is good. He seems he would be tougher than Bauer. I take you are talking about "Tony" coming back? I wasn't sure that was him. I wonder what role he will have?

Seen couple of Red Wings games on tv and it looks like they are not going to make the playoffs this year. Sad! Also sad that the Joe is going to be gone. It seems like a waste of money to keep building sports stadiums. How is the new place being financed? Pizza money only or is the public pitching in?

I would normally agree with you on new arenas. I personally think that owners are greedy when it comes to trying to get cities to pay for a new arena or stadium. They will hold the city hostage and if they don't get the funding, will threaten to leave.

In Detroit, Joe Louis arena was showing its age. I never cared for the place, so I'm glad to see it go. I think tax dollars will pay for around 35% and the rest is privately funded. The jury is out if this is a good or bad deal for Detroit. I'm not convinced it will be good, but it will bring people downtown. The Pistons are also moving to this new arena. Unlike Joe Louis Arena, I'm sad to see the Palace go. It's a tough thing for the region to lose it, after losing the Silverdome.

The Palace is still doing well for opening in 1988. The Pistons owner renovated it and now it seems like it'll be a waste of money because there is talk that it will be demolished and the land will be sold.

As far as 24 Legacy...yes, I've seen Tony in some promotional materials. I'm interested to see how they explain this! Might we see Chloe at some point? Also, I hope that Jimmy Smits won't end up being a bad guy! You know how they love to flip things on the viewers.

  6. Since Detroit has no money, is the state putting in the 35%? I doubt it is going do a lot for the city. How much impact did Comerica park and Ford field have? They are much bigger than the hockey/basketball arena they are building. So I am skeptical how much benefit all these stadium tearing and building will have. The only good thing is that Mike Ilich has been a good loyal Detroiter so at least I trust that he is trying to help the city, not screwing it like some other sports team owners.

What did they do with the Silverdome? That must be devastating to Pontiac after the Pistons left.

No, I believe the 35% comes from the city. The city is doing better and is out of bankruptcy. The good thing about the arena is that there will be retail built around the site that will accessed 24/7. They're trying to make it a market area that is covered by a glass roof.

The Silverdome is still standing. The roof broke a few years back due to a maintenance issue. The owner tried to get insurance to pay for it, but they wouldn't pay for it, so it's basically abandoned. He's asking too much for it, but there's been talk that it'll eventually be sold and it'll be knocked down. The property is supposed to be valuable so we'll see what happens over there.

Did you know that the owner of the Pistons and owner of the Cavs (both MSU alums) are trying to get an MLS team to Detroit? They're trying to put a soccer stadium near Greektown, where a failed jail was being built. Wayne county tried to build this jail and they ran out of money, so it's been sitting there. It was a big controversy. So the owner of the Cavs said that he'd buy the property and donate another parcel of land to the county and he would build a jail there. So the county is thinking about it and there should be a decision soon.
