Couple of items in the news caught my attention.  First Jeb Bush defends those who crosses the border illegally to work, calling it an act of love to provide for their children.  I agree.  If China was next to the U.S., my parents would have crossed over well before getting their green cards.  But I guess Jeb Bush is NOT trying to get the Republican nomination for president in 2016!

The Supreme court refuses to hear an appeal from a photographer from New Mexico who was cited for refusing to photograph gay weddings.  I agree with the ruling but does it really matter?  I mean, which gay couple will be dumb enough to hire this person for their wedding?  Do they really want their wedding pictures upside down or totally blurred?  It is like the court compelling a racist surgeon to operate on me.  Thanks but no thanks!

In regard to DWTS, apparently we have a big fan in LBOAYM!  I agree that Davis and White are clear favorites.  For the other contestants it must feel like the two players who drew Ken Jennings in Jeopardy's Battle of the Decades.  You know you have no chance.  The only way to beat Davis and White would be to get scores close to perfect and then have more fans' votes than Davis and White.  There are a few who may get 27-30 scores but I think of those only the handicap woman may get more votes than Davis and White.  Davis does have an edge over White because I believe a woman "amateur" have an edge over a man "amateur" since she does not have to lead.

Well, maybe the laws should change. I think there's a misconception that the "illegals" are here to take jobs away from "legals", which is not the case.

The only problem is that they can be a drain to the health care system.

I guess you have to have some kind of control or cutoff because then your borders would be flooded with people from Mexico.

Interesting that Jeb would say this. If I recall, one of the Bush sons or grandsons is married to a Latina, so maybe this hits home.

Maybe he IS running for office. This would help with the Hispanic vote, I would think.

I don't know why people are so combative when they don't want business from a certain group. I can see where it would be difficult for a restaurant to not want to service someone, but as a photographer, why wouldn't you just say that you are booked?

No comment on DWTS. Since it's a show I DO NOT WATCH! I just happened to have it on and saw Erin Andrews in a dress and kept it there!

  2. The only way people won't cross the border is if Mexico's economy improved. The same situation occurred in Hong Kong with people from China trying to get in. This also upset many in Hong Kong so I can't blame people in the U.S. wanting to control the border. But the only reason the situation is better in Hong Kong now is because the economy in China has improved so people can stay in their homeland to look for a job. Since we can't control how or if the Mexican economy improves, there are few steps we can take. First would be a guest worker program so that employers don't have to hire undocumented workers. And you need enforcement on the employer side so that if they do hire undocumented workers they are heavily fined or jailed. If there are no off the book work available then there will be less "illegals" coming in, although it won't stop it altogether.

I don't think Jeb is trying to be president because he would have to get nominated first. It helps in a general election to court Latinos but he won't get nominated in the first place by advocating immigration reform. Romney's father George was born in Mexico but even Mitt would not advocate for Latinos. Instead he called for voluntary deportation when he was trying to get the nomination. By the way Jeb's wife is Mexican. Their son George P. Bush is running for office in Texas. Maybe this was to help the young Bush.

Yikes! Can the Tigers and Dodgers get worse relief pitching? Both closers Nathan and Jensen have been terrible. Can't win without a closer. This maybe both of their Achilles heels!
